Do you remember watching Beetlejuice for the first time and seeing Catherine O’Hara and her whole dinner party possessed by ghosts and getting weird, singing and dancing to some cool song and the shrimp cocktail comes to life and you’re thinking, this is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen but also what is this song?

It was Harry Belafonte’s "Banana Boat Song" of course, and that was my first taste of calypso. It’s Harry's 94th birthday and we celebrated by bringing his warmth to a dreary Maine evening.
